How we earn from affiliate links
Affiliate commissions never change our ratings or rankings.
The short version
Some links on heyLooAI are **affiliate links**. If you click one and buy the product, we get a small commission. You pay the same price either way.
**We only recommend products we’ve tested and would recommend without a commission.** No brand can pay us to write a review, change a rating, or include them in a comparison.
If a link is an affiliate link, the article will say so at the top, like this:
> 💡 This page contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you sign up via these links, at no extra cost to you. [Read our full disclosure.](/affiliate-disclosure/)
—
The longer version — for the FTC, the EU, and you
Under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR Part 255 (“Endorsement Guides”), the EU’s UCPD, and the UK’s CMA guidance, we are legally required to disclose material connections between us and the products we review. This page is our standing disclosure; in-article banners are our per-piece disclosure.
### Programs we participate in
We are a participant in:
- **Amazon Associates Program** — heyLooAI is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
- **Impact, Partnerstack, ShareASale, CJ Affiliate** — for SaaS products like AI tools, we use one of these networks
- **Direct affiliate programs** — for tools like [examples: Jasper, Copy.ai, Notion AI] we may have direct affiliate accounts
If a network we use isn’t listed here, we’ll add it within 7 days of joining.
### How affiliate links look on this site
We use **Pretty Links** to create clean, branded redirects. So instead of:
You’ll see:
This is more readable and lets us update broken links without rewriting articles. Both Google and the FTC are fine with redirect-style affiliate links **as long as the disclosure is clear**.
All our affiliate links use `rel=”nofollow sponsored”` per Google’s policy, so search engines don’t pass authority through monetized links.
### What changes hands
When you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying action (usually a purchase, sometimes a free trial signup), the affiliate network pays us a commission. Amounts vary widely — from $0.50 on a low-priced product to $200 on annual SaaS subscriptions.
The advertiser pays the commission, not you. The price you pay is identical whether you click our link or go direct.
### What does *not* change
A commission does not influence:
- **Whether a product is reviewed** — we pick what to review based on reader requests and category gaps
- **The star rating** or any quality judgment
- **The ranking** in comparison pieces
- **Whether the product is featured** in our newsletter
We have published critical reviews of products we have affiliate relationships with. We’ve also recommended free / open-source products that pay us nothing. This is the only way the site stays useful long-term.
### Sponsored content
If we ever publish a sponsored post (we don’t, currently, but reserving the right), it will be:
1. Clearly labeled `[Sponsored]` in the title and at the top of the page
2. Marked with `` so it doesn’t compete with editorial content in search
3. Disclosed in the URL (`/sponsored/[brand]/[piece]/`)
Sponsored content has not yet appeared on heyLooAI. If/when it does, this section will be updated.
### Display advertising
If/when this site is approved for Google AdSense, we display contextual ads on some pages. Those ads are:
- Selected by Google based on the page content and your browsing history
- Not endorsed by heyLooAI
- Marked as advertising
You can opt out of personalized ads via your Google settings, or block all ads with a browser extension.
### What we will never do
- Sell our email list
- Pay-for-review (we don’t accept payment for positive reviews)
- Astroturf (we don’t comment on Reddit/forums posing as ordinary users)
- Affiliate-link **inside** the prose without it being clearly a product mention
- Hide disclosure in tiny footer text
### Questions or concerns
Email `partners@heylooai.com` if you ever spot a missing disclosure, a broken affiliate link, or anything that smells off. We’ll fix it within 48 hours.
